I found this contest on Living with Purpose: A Radical Revolution

Are you a young woman between the ages of 12 and 17? Do you have a desire to impact your generation and future generations for Christ through speaking, writing, or simply by setting an example for those whom God has placed within your sphere of influence? If this speaks to your heart, then the Next Generation track of our annual She Speaks Conference was designed especially for you!

Proverbs 31 Ministries is offering a number of full scholarships to the conference for young women who submit winning devotions similar to those you have seen on this blog site. Contest ends Friday, May 2, 2008.

Xerox makes “THANK YOU!” easy

posted by Mandi Hart on Nov 19, 2007 (Fun Stuff)

If you go to this web site, www.LetsSayThanks.com you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq . You can’t pick out who gets it, but it will go to some member of the armed services.

It is so easy! And what a simple way to say “Thank you ” to those serving our country. Could you imagine if everyone sent one?!?!

I’m a U.S. Marine Captain stationed in Afghanistan; my tour a duty ends here in October. I want to thank you, your friends and family for their support. I picked up one of your post cards the other day. This was the first post card/ letter I’ve received since arriving here over two months ago. The card was signed Stacy, Ciara, Donna, Nick, Tom, David, Vulle, Vosh, Pat and Trish. I hope you and your family have a wonderful summer. Thanks for thinking of us (U.S. service members).

Meeting New Students

posted by Mandi Hart on Oct 04, 2007 (Fun Stuff)

How difficult is it to go introduce yourself to someone you don’t know on a Sunday morning or Wednesday night? If you’re like me, this is a big challenge.

I was surfing the web earlier this week and came across this very unique approach:
“This guy came over to me and my friends and asked: ‘Do you happen to know how much a polar bear weighs?’ We said no and kept walking, and then he said, ‘Well, it’s enough to break the ice. Hi, I’m Brian.’ We all cracked up and kept talking to him.”

What tips do you have for someone trying to meet a new person? Do you have any tricks for “breaking the ice”? Share them with us!
